Its all bout highland ecosystem, snow-fed glaciers and spectacular views. Every year during spring and autumn seasons, mountaineers from around the world gather here to start their ascent to Mt. Annapurna. The 8,9091 m Annapurna-I is the highest peak. The mountain was climbed for the first time by a small French expedition led by Maurice Herzog. That was way back in 1950 and it was the first time that an 8,000 m peak had been climbed.

The valley-like area, surrounded by snowcapped mountains, is truly a paradise on earth. That is one reason why ethnographers and naturalists frequented the area in the past and continua to do so till now. The snow white glaciers add to the natural beauty of the Annapurna region. However, increasing pollution and littering of the area by mountaineer and trekkers have been a matter of concern. And in recent years, some cleanup expeditions have done a commendable job/
