The quick getaways north of Pokhara, Ghodepani and Pun Hill are famous for arguably the finest view of the Annapurnas and Dhaulagiri and the Pokhara valley below. The famous sites can be reached via Dhampus and lie in route to the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre base camps. These are the places meant for visitors who want to make middle distance treks.

Like the other villages in of west Nepal, Ghodepani is famous for its colorful Gurung villages and the warm hospitality they offer. And Pun Hill is names after the Pun (Magar) community the unique mountain has. Other communities in the area include Brahmin and Chhetris. From these villages of hill stations, overlooking the white water Modi River trekkers can easily return to Pokhara or move higher up towards Ghandruk or extend their trek towards the foot of the Annapurana.
