Manakamana
The famous temple of Manakamana is also
situated in Gorkha district. A cable car
travels Kuringtar over the hills which is
along side the Prithivi Highway and takes
you to the famous temple of Hindu Goddess
Manakamana. The temple was built nearly
250 years ago during the reign of Late King
Rajendra Bir Bikram Shah and the area offers
opportunities to make some side trips to
nearby villages and pristine forests that
are relatively unexplored.
The temple can also
be reached via the small town of Abu Khaireni
at the point along Prithivi Highway, past
bustling bazaar of Mugling. But for that
the travelers are required to trek for
three to four hours, which is an extremely
worthwhile experience as you pass through
interesting villages overlooking the Marshyangdi
River.
